Notepad Project
The objective of the Notepad project was to design and create a 100-page notepad using the offset printing technique. This project was the culminating project of the Graphics 1 course because it included all four stages of creating a graphic product: design; image generation; pre-production and production; and finishing, binding, and packaging. The notepad was designed using digital software: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. This project was completed with a partner - the two notepad designs were printed on 8.5" x 11" paper, bound, and cut to produce two separate 5.5" x 8.5" notepads.
For my direction of this project, I wanted my notepad to picture something in nature. I created two initial designs, one depicting a tropical scene with a flowing script text, and another with a bear and scratched text on a log header. I chose the tropical design because it was more aesthetically pleasing and had an overall better design. When it came to the printing process, my partner and I both agreed to use black ink on white paper.
I liked the simplicity of the offset printing method, and I am satisfied with the design I chose for my notepad. However, I dislike that the image on the notepad is as dark as it is. I should have reduced the opacity more in the digital software before printing. |
